“Composer Joseph Martin provided the lyrics to this anthem and upon reading it I was immediately drawn to its honesty. Our wounds, our fragility and our waywardness don’t prevent us from singing an “alleluia” (the universal word for praise).
“I was also drawn to the musical metaphors embedded in the words: “song”, “bow”, “strings”, “theme”, “hymn”, and “symphony” are just a few examples and they add a profound lyricism to the sacred poetry. Each alleluia refrain outdoes the one before and the cascading effect in the final refrain represents a heavenly scene in which the angels and all the redeemed sing praises around the throne of God.”
