Description
Soprano and Baritone
Three copies are required for performance (Soprano, Baritone, Accompanist).
In The Husbands, Cipullo sets to music the longing of a group of widows as they reunite with their husbands in memory, as portrayed by the poet William Carpenter in his prose-poem of the same name. Set for Soprano and Baritone duet, the singers describe the widows' yearning as they recall the shades of their husbands at a diner while on a New England bus tour. The duet ends with a poignant meditation on the absence keenly felt by the women, supported by accompaniment of flute, viola, and piano.
