Description
Pieces of Advice is a suite for horn and piano which celebrates the horn as a virtuoso instrument. It is closer to jazz horn style than orchestral horn writing and is stylistically closer to Strauss than Brahms. As a horn player who spent many hours playing orchestral parts consisting of five or six different notes, Lansky wanted to celebrate the horn as if it were a woodwind instrument rather than a brass instrument. Pieces of Advice is for advanced players and offers the opportunity for the horn player to break free.
