Description
Wexford Carol sets two verses of the Irish traditional carol, Mack Wilberg's arrangement opens sweetly with unaccompanied unison men, before the piano glides in lightly. As the upper voices enter they echo the men which leads to a more striking, broad textured section. The carol melody's slightly haunting, modal qualities are balanced by colorful harmonic finishes, and a final statement of the melody in the piano brings the piece to a sweet finale.
