Dancing Through Musical Eras

Description

Commissioned to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Association of Professional Piano Instructors (APPI), Minnesota, this sheet has four short sections that represent the musical eras. Each “movement” flows easily to the next being only 10-14 measures in length. As a teaching opportunity, students are introduced to the concept of a motif stated in the opening of the Baroque Minuet. The composer encourages the student to find this motif throughout the piece—20 times! The other movements are called: Classical Country Dance; Romantic Valse Triste and Jazz Boogie. All have optional teacher duets.
