A beautiful, elegant organ solo based on the plainsong melody Jesu dulcis memoria.
Review
“This moderately easy prelude for organ solo is based on the plainsong melody Jesu dulcis memoria, found in The Hymnal 1982 with three different texts. Two stanzas of the chant melody are developed with an interlude that contributes to an increase in intensity. A beautiful coda juxtaposes a sustained major chord with melodic fragments that use the lowered third and lowered second scale degrees. This is an atmospheric work with a contemporary harmonic language that coheres and embraces beauty. I played this work to great effect during the distribution of communion on the Last Sunday after the Epiphany and followed it with the singing of hymn 134.” –The Journal of the Association of Anglican Musicians, September 2012
